Remove inventory automatically

You can set up automatic removals for your inventory at Amazon fulfillment centers. You can enable removals for unsellable or standard inventory or for both types of inventory. Eligible unsellable units can be automatically refurbished or liquidated as value recovery alternatives to the units, to be returned to the seller address or disposed.

Note: You can configure Automated unfulfillable settings depending on whether your unfulfillable inventory is in the UK or the EU. Returns and other settings are separate for the UK and the EU. For example, you can provide a local return address for the UK but another address for inventory in the EU. Ensure to update the settings for both the UK and the EU regions. An incomplete or invalid address will lead to settings being disabled in the respective region and inventory will be subjected to the required removals policy.

To preserve the customer promise, Amazon fulfills inventory based on its location to quickly deliver the order to the customer. We don't fulfill inventory in the order that it was received in our facilities. For more information, go to Expiry dates on FBA products.

Remove unsellable inventory automatically

When inventory in an Amazon fulfillment center is not in sellable condition, its status changes to Unfulfillable and it is set aside. If you do not create a removal order for your unsellable inventory within 30 days after Amazon notifies you of its required removal, it is likely to be automatically disposed of. You can remove unsellable inventory at any time by submitting a removal order. For more information, go to Remove inventory from a fulfillment center.

You can also choose to have unsellable inventory refurbished, liquidated, or returned to you automatically by enabling the service in your seller account. Ensure to update the settings for both the UK and the EU.

  1. From the Settings menu, click Fulfillment by Amazon or from the Fulfillment by Amazon Settings page, locate Automated unfulfillable settings.
    Note: If your permissions don’t allow you to complete these navigational steps, try the following: On the Inventory tab, click Manage FBA Inventory. Click Remove Unfulfillable Inventory, and then click Auto removal settings.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. On the Automated Unfulfillable Settings page, click Enable and select one of the following for unsellable inventory:

    Removal options

    Return to have unsellable inventory returned to you.

    Dispose to have unsellable inventory disposed of.

    Value recovery options (Optional)

    Furbishment to have eligible unsellable inventory refurbished for sale. (Learn more on refurbishment service)

    Liquidations to have unsellable inventory liquidated (Learn more on liquidation service)

    • Weekly (on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 28th)

  4. In the Email address text box, enter your preferred email address.
  5. If you selected Return from the Return or dispose option, provide the address and phone number for the delivery destination.
  6. Click Update.
