Customer safety is of paramount importance to Amazon. Customers need to be confident that they will find a comprehensive selection of safe, reliable and compliant products on Amazon, no matter who is the seller.
Therefore, as a seller, you need to understand and comply with Amazon's policies on product safety and compliance. This will increase your chances of succeeding on Amazon, as well as help you avoid potential penalties and/or blocked listings or even prevent you from selling on Amazon.
The requirements to list your products may differ based on the product and country you are selling in so please ensure you consult your legal counsel and/or supplier to ensure you have all of the relevant information.
In addition to the below existing regulations, on July 16, 2021, a new EU Regulation on product safety (called the “Market Surveillance and Compliance of Products Regulation”) comes into effect. This new regulation adds the requirement for CE-marked products to have someone present in the European Union acting as the point of contact (POC) for product compliance (a “Responsible Person”). We have added additional content here to help you prepare for this new regulation.
