3,200+ fake reviews on ASIN B0D8XGYZ8L - why is Amazon allowing Chinese sellers to do this??

ASIN B0D8XGYZ8L - product was released 6 months ago and supposedly has 3,300+ ratings/reviews.

However, if you sort by the correct variant, it only has 85 ratings and 64 reviews.

Reported it to Amazon at the appropriate link and got an INSTANT email reply that said:

"Thank you for your report of a suspected policy violation. We cannot take action on the report as no violation has been identified on the reported B0D8XGYZ8L for the violation type selected."

Contacted Seller Support and they told me to use the same link.

Sad that Amazon allows Chinese sellers to get away with this! This is clearly a violation of their policies.

This is a classic trick: Take over a listing, variant it out, and combine reviews for products the original seller no longer sells. If you look at the review images, you will see reviews for different products, not different variations.

Amazon just doesn't care.

They won't do anything. I was checking out a new competitor with 91 reviews all 5 star, barely launched. You can find several IDENTICAL positive reviews word for word, character for character and sometimes published on the same date.

It seems like they encourage it almost.

Common variation manipulation - Rather than making a new listing the bad actor will make a child listing for a parent with a history and reviews. Either they leave the old children as is, or slowly start changing them to fit the parent, though this is rarer. To check what children are on a listing you suspect being review/variation manipulated, you can check the Variation Wizard -

Go to Catalogue > Add Products > Create variations using Variation Wizard > Add to or update an existing variation family

Put in the ASIN and see if it has children/parent relationships and click search.

Here is a screen capture of the listing you bring up in this post (B0D8XGYZ8L):

You like that? I like that there is a seller here who cries in the forums about "Fake reviews" and some how has conned Amazon to removing his poor reviews when they tell the rest of us NO. Here ya go. Also his positive reviews are probably also fake. Look up his account. Consistent poor reviews. Product broke after one month, refused to refund, won't answer messages, product missing parts, product has mold, products cheaply made, seller was rude, seller mislead, etc. etc. all bad reviews all removed by Amazon "FBA Fulfillment was responsible for the issue not the seller" every single one of them. He makes post all the time trying to con them into removing them all again. 97% positive lol I went back to October, same story every month some how got them all removed. Why is this seller special?

Tell me about it. As a seller we've had several hijacking attempts. As a buyer, some search result in dozens of these ASINs and it's annoying. Everything is Chinese junk. And speaking of Chinese junk, Amazon algo just gives me Chinese junk!!! Other day I was looking for bulbs and got really mad because all the ASINs were Chinese crap. Their bulbs burn out so quick and they're LED lol. So I literally typed in brands I was looking for to get quality bulbs.
