Desperate help, unable to relist item, error code 5995

Sometimes i feel like Amazon want to destroy my business.

The latest issue relates to a 5995 error code: “You may not change the brand name on this ASIN. Use the brand name currently shown on the ASIN detail page. If you believe you are using the correct brand name, contact Selling Partner Support and mention the error code 5995.”

This came out of nowhere. I changed brand across all my products about 3 years ago and I’ve not had a problem. (I changed brand because I couldn’t register the old one.)

The problem first arose when my listing went “inactive” for no apparent reason (the error message was not showing up at this point). I contacted seller support and they told me to delete the listing and relist. I was told nothing will be lost. All the information was lost! the images, keywords, everything.

That not the worst of it. Now im trying to relist and I am getting the 5995 error message and I am unable to list. I have 6000 units in FBA and its Christmas - this is killing me!

Ive tried the jeff bezos team and they have told me theyve attempted something at the back off seller central but if that doesnt work, I need to relist my product under a new ASIN. WHAT???

I cant start again - 7 years of reviews. They must be mad. Ive tried and tried back and forth with them and this is the final piece of ‘advice’ they can give me.

???..(modified by MOD _Nickolas ) is going on! Has anyone else experienced this? What are my options - they are effectively destroying this listing.

Hi all

I have 7000 units in FBA of a key product. Suddenly the listing became in active and i was advised to delete and relist. I did that and have been unable to relist since. Its taken 2 weeks and probably 30 or 40 emails back and forth with Amazon to establish what the issue is - someone else is using my EAN. The problem is that this is an old listing set up before GS1 was made mandatory and my EANs are not from GS1.

I am where i am. But what do i do to save my stock and my listing with all the reviews?

The stock is currently ‘stranded’ and my understanding is that after a certain amount of time, this stock will be sent back to me at a cost of £0.40 per unit. That’s an excruciating £2800 in total cost, then i have to manually relabel every single box is the FNSKU changes. and send it back to Amazon.

Isn’t there an easier way? I am able to use the ASIN to set up my old listing but with a different SKU. Can i ask brand registry to update both the EAN (to a GS1 one) and the SKU to re-link the stock?

My suspicion is it took so much effort to get out of amazon what the problem is because it is effectively their fault by not having adequate systems and controls in place pre2017 meaning that people like myself are suffering the consequences of a late change in EAN policy. By avoiding saying what the problem is on paper (they only told me on the phone), i believe they see this as avoiding legal risk. Its not acceptable, though, to destroy people’s businesses like this.

If its one listing, I have heard previously that SS are able to change the EAN on a listing
It will have to be a GS1 one though , registered to your brand etc
I’d give that a try first

Frustrating situation here as well.
We are facing 5995 issue and we have stock in FBA EU.

We were asked to delete and relist. We are unable to relist now.
The ones we chose not to delete them to see if one is successfully relisted, we are unable to edit them.

Any tips how to solve this 5995 situation?
It is ruining our business and we are thinking to leave Amazon basically.

Can I ask how you got access to the Jeff Bezos team? Just through a call? Had a similar error message and never got it fixed even though the support query was open for 2 weeks.
