Wrong address
I just received an email from a customer telling me that a book I shipped Tuesday should have been shipped to a different address than the one I was given. I emailed him back suggesting he contact the person at the address given as I can do nothing about it from this end now, but he's pretty angry.
Any suggestions? I buy shipping through Amazon, so hopefully if there's a claim it ends up in their ballpark, but...

That can aggravate.
Instead I would have opted for something like this:
I am sorry to hear this and understand it is frustrating. As 3rd party sellers, we are not able to change the shipping address. The address is provided to us by Amazon. Perhaps you forgot to change the address when you checked out?
As of now, if you shipped it priority mail/UPS/FEDEX and it's worth the $10 fee, you could intercept and have it returned to you.

IF they used mail forwarding at the PO it should be good for 6 months as I recall.
In some cases this is actually a SCAM attempt to get you to refund them before it gets forwarded.
As both @Seller_4zBzdtgCyS9EIand @Seller_XSqPquQH4FvW1 note, there's really nothing that you can do AND if it gets refused at the delivery address as 'not known' and returned to you it will cost you (probably) Priority Mail rates to get it back.
The last one I had come back my local PO refused to do First Class and claimed it was 'policy.' I never checked to see since I refuse to ship through the local PO anyway!

It happens on occasion - some people just forget to update their address if they move, and some are just trying to scam you.
Whenever I get a message from a customer regarding an incorrect address, I just let them know that the address is the one THEY specified on their order, and once it's shipped there is literally nothing I can do.
I tell them they can pick it up at that address (if possible), or they can contact the person that is living there, but it is their responsibility to deal with it. I also let them know if it comes back to me, I will refund for the product (not the shipping), re-list the item, and they can purchase it again.
People make mistakes sometimes, and I'll do whatever I can to assist, but I can't force them to be responsible. Amazon makes the information very clear for the buyer, so if they ignore it, that's their issue.

Oh man, never say that there is nothing you can do, REDIRECT them to their next step. Explain how to open a case. amazon will cover it all as you paid for their shipping.
Always at least sound like you are helpful, you know like Amazon does.

If you purchased postage using Amazon Buy Shipping and the package was scanned into the carrier's possession before the close of the Amazon-scheduled Ship-By date, then you will be covered from A-Z Claim and Negative Feedback, as this would definitely be a "Problem with Delivery".
You should explain that the Delivery address is defaulted to whatever address the Buyer originally set, but CAN be altered at the time the order is placed.
All you can do is be polite, courteous and professional with the Buyer in explaining that you did exactly what Amazon REQUIRED you to do, and that the Buyer should check their default Delivery Address on Amazon to prevent this from reoccurring.
Don not stress too much about it. It MAY be legit, or it MAY be some attempt to scam, but as long as you purchased postage using Amazon Buy Shipping and the package was scanned into the carrier's possession before the close of the Amazon-scheduled Ship-By date, then you will protected.
Good Luck!
