Important message: Account suspension risk - UK VAT number invalid
I have had an Amazon Europe account for about 7 years but I only sold in Europe for about a year. I've had an Amazon Americas account for over 10 years that I still actively sell on. In the future, I may return to Amazon Europe so I have not closed the account. If I close the account, it's permanently closed and I cannot open a new account for my business.
If I search these seller forums it's always recommended that I keep the account open but inactive. This latest error contradicts that possibility. It's requiring I be VAT registered or risk suspension. (I have since deleted my old VAT number but it still says one is required) I do not want my Europe account to end up being deactivated and risk my Americas account.
The email titled "Subject: Important message: Account suspension risk - UK VAT number invalid" states "Our records indicate your business is required to be VAT registered in the UK and that your VAT number is UK VAT Checker invalid."
Any suggestions on how I may keep my Amazon Europe account in an "inactive" state? Thank you.

I am having the exact issue, I no longer sell in UK/EU many years ago and already de-register our VAT number.
AZ still asking for a valid VAT or risk suspnsion to my UK account. I am worried it will affect my US account.
Anyone can guide me what step to take ?

I received another notice today that the original 60 days I had are now down to 30 days. Add a VAT number or my account will be deactivated.
Is there really no way to keep my account anymore unless I'm an active seller?

I did open a seller support case. Because "Enable inventory storage" for the UK is checked and because my home marketplace is the UK, I must provide a VAT number. However, there is no way for me to change my home marketplace or disable UK inventory storage.

I was told to email vat-number-appeals@amazon.com with my VAT number and other information. I did send an email, but explaining the above that I don't have a VAT number, and I've received no response.
So is there really no solution to this? I either exit Amazon Europe forever or apply for a VAT number for a country I am not active in?
