Calling a edc folding knife a switchblade! Very frustrating
Been selling on here since 2017. Just this last year, every single new knife listing I create gets taken down to be reviewed before going live. Fine, I get it. You want to double check that it conforms to Amazon policy ( which they do). But what do you do when seller support or whomever checks doesn’t know a thing about knives thus putting your account and business at risk?
I’m trying to list another manual open folding edc pocket knife. Pictures show it’s a edc folding pocket knife and the listing says exactly that….. but then (after their review) I’m told it’s a switchblade or auto knife. WHAT!? Ok fine, I’ll just appeal it.. surely a bot did this.. 2 appeals and still a switchblade! That’s like calling a pickle an orange in the knife industry.
Is there any leadership that can please look at these cases that knows anything about the Amazons knife policy and what to look for that could please save my listing and account. Perhaps train the people that look at these (only reviewed overnight, so must be overseas). It would be nice to not have to go through this stress every time I try to list new items.
Thanks In advance.

Hi @Seller_ENnZbj247IZcK,
I hope this finds you well!
I understand you have questions regarding a restricted products policy and your listing.
As you previously stated, you understand that some listings and products need to be reviewed for compliance. With restricted products, there are a number of reasons why a products needs to be investigated to ensure that they do not violated any local, state, or federal laws and regulations in addition to independent Amazon policies.
Are there any keywords, phrases, or even images that can flag a listing under this policy for weapons?
Permitted listings include typical hunting or kitchen knives, such as the following:
- Hunting knives
- Kitchen knives
- Replica swords
- Machetes
- Claw knives or karambit knives
- Throwing spears and knives
The following examples of permitted listings are subject to geographic sales restrictions:
- Umbrella knives
- Spring-assisted or assisted-opening knives that do not automatically extend
Are there any keywords, phrases, or even images that can flag a listing under this policy for weapons?
I have looked into both of these cases and it appears they were previously transferred to another team for review. While my team is unable to guarantee when the team will respond, I did want to assure you that your submission is under review at this time. This process is usually two to four days, but could take longer depending on volume of submissions made to the same team.
If you have any relevant information or receive an update form that team, please feel free to respond to this topic and let us know, so we can further support you.
All the best,
Stevie.
