Am I silly to send lower value items signed delivery?
I generally send lower value items standard delivery, however I am recently noticing an increase in non receipt claims and A-Z claims without fair contact to resolve. All of which is costing money, time, and account ratings.
Am I silly to send low value items from £6 signed delivery? and what is the ideal threshold when you're just a small business.
TIA

Thank you for bringing this up. While I can't comment or provide you direct recommendations on how to handle your inquiry, I appreciate you inviting others to share their experiences and perspectives - that kind of open dialogue can be very helpful in working through these types of decisions for new sellers.

No I don't think you're silly! We send everything tracked no matter what the cost of the item but we charge buyers a postage fee to cover it.
Doing this reduces sales but the way I look at it is, what's the point selling loads of items with free postage and sending them by non-tracked methods then get the old where's my stuff email followed by an A to Z and the buyer getting a freebie with Amazons blessings. We might as well take the hit on sales but get paid for 100% what we sell.

Is this Yodel compensation for the full price of the sale or do you have to provide proof of what you bought the item for and get paid out for that amount?

I'm pretty sure this is not the issue here, sure there are the odd item that gets lost but our experience is nearer to 1 in 500 not 1 in 50. The problem is stuff not getting scanned on delivery leaving the ever growing number of dishonest Amazon customers to claim for INR even though they have received it.

Buyer pays for the tracked shipping in our case so self insurance is not a factor. Whereas I can't see the point leaving yourself wide open to abuse from Amazons vast army of thieves and scammers. After all we get no protection whatsoever

I would think it is a factor insofar as it raises your price and presumably limits sales.
I mostly sell books and I find they rarely result in INRs (i in 100 maybe). On that basis it would be virtual madness for me to send all low value orders with full tracking.

It does but then again why have loads of sales, then have a % of them reduced with the INR scam. Sending with shipping that has confirmation of delivery only, a shipping method we know for sure is flawed. It defeats the object of keeping prices low to draw in more sales. Any way we would not be having this conversation if Amazon showed due diligence to weeding out fraudulent practices but they refuse to do so.
