8541 Error, but ASIN doesn't exist

Good Afternoon,

I'm hoping a mod can assist. When using "add a product" - there are no listings when searching by the product's UPC. We are approved to create new listings for this brand, which I've successfully done in the recent past. For a specific product, though, I keep getting the 8541 error: "8541: The value Citrus Spice specified cannot be used as it conflicts with the value Amber for ASIN B0042SYRO6 in the Amazon catalog. If this is ASIN B0042SYRO6, update the value to match the ASIN data. If this is a different product, update identifying information (UPC/EAN/Part Number/etc.)."

ASIN B0042SYRO6 doesn't exist, though. I've searched that ASIN in the "add a product" tool - nothing. I've used the listing upload file and searched with both UPC and that ASIN, and both come back as "Not in Amazon -> Download product template to create new products." Haha. But I'm not able to create a new product because of the aforementioned 8541 error..

I've tried to explain to support that the ASIN doesn't exist, but I'm not getting anywhere.

Unfortunately, I am not able to investigate here as you did not reply with the information requested and therefor, they couldn't complete their research. Please reply to the case with the requested information and proof of what this ASIN is supposed to be so they can complete their investigation. If the case is resolved for more than 5 days, you will be required to start a new case.

If you still need help after they are able to fully investigate, please let me know.

I'm actually having this same issue.

Still going back and forth with another solution that doesn't make sense.

I think it's because Amazon has changed their category trees and is recognizing the old listing even after it's deleted but I don't think it's fixable on our end. I'm pretty sure we are at the mercy of support cases and getting a rep who reads the full history.

I am experiencing the same problem with about eight products that I am unable to the Amazon catalog. Seller support keeps going in circles with each support replying with different responses. I am curious to know the resolution to this problem.
