Error Code 5886
There is a book for sale on Amazon that has several sellers. I want to be one of them, however, when I try to put in my offer details a screen pops up that says:
5886 : You cannot change a product detail page, or add offers on another seller’s generic product, or copy the product detail page to another store. If you want to sell a generic product, you must create a new product. To create a new product, follow the process outlined in Add a Product tool. For more information, go to Amazon Generic Product Policy.
Seller support says I have to create a new ASIN. When I try to create a new ASIN and it asks for the ISBN I put in the ISBN from the book and Amazon says it is already in the catalog. I know it is!
When I searched the forum for answers it appears that most people who get this error code are trying to introduce a brand new product into the catalog. I am not trying to do that or change the page in any way. I have updated my question to Seller Support, but that usually doesn't go anywhere. Hoping another seller has encountered this and has a way to solve it. Thank you.

Hello @Seller_d2fN72Ef5zvs7,
My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I would like to assist where I am able and dig into this a bit more. Please can you provide the case ID you currently have open with Seller Support?
Books, Music, Video, DVD, or Digital categories don’t require a brand value, unbranded or otherwise so it is strange this specific book was created with a generic brand. (Reference Amazon Brand Name policy).
Based on what you have described here, the reason you are getting the responses that you are, are because of the Amazon Generic Product Policy, but as per the Brand Name Policy, BMVD products don't have the brand name requirement.
Looking forward to assisting wherever I can, just need to grab some additional detail from your case.
Best, Dougal
