FBA fees and fees and fees

With all the new fees being put in on FBA I'm very close to pulling all my FBA items once the stock runs out.

DIscuss.

I've heard of a cruel internal term used at Amazon, CRaP - Can't Realize a Profit. This refers to products sold by sellers and brands who don't have a profit margin, and therefore can't sustain a business on Amazon.

Many are newbies, RA sellers of low priced consumer staples, or sellers in highly competitive niches like phone accessories. Eventually they realize it's not sustainable and leave.

I have a new term to share - TRaP (Tenuously Realizing a Profit). TRaP sellers hold on either through sheer volume or keeping it as a "side hustle" that might turn into something big with the right product or alignment of the planets.

The new inbound placement fees and low inventory fees will turn thousands of marginal TRaP sellers into CRaP sellers. Because they can't lower costs and are unable to raise prices in competitive niches, they will be forced to leave the marketplace.

It's a shakeout, and it's no accident.

In any business, you need to look at all the costs.

If the cost gets to the point where you do not make the profit you need, then you need to change. Perhaps you change your pricing, perhaps you change your business model. Not really much to discuss.

Pretty simple. Applies to rent going up, postage changes, increased employee wages, higher product costs, or for FBA fees.

I just want to share an observation with everyone. March 1 we were all shocked to see shipping rates more than triple and exorbitant placement fees, thousands of us small and medium sellers have decided to end our FBA "partnership" and go with fBM - well, every month or so I have to take a 900 mile trip each way, Interstate 80 between Illinois and Colorado. There are always a minimum of 20 Prime trucks on the road. Or a lot more. There are lots. I was always so happy to see them. There's some of our stuff being distributed around the country, I'd tell my husband. Prime trucks - semi trucks carrying products from one warehouse to another. Monday, I saw one Prime truck and it was parked. Zero on the highway. Yes, lots of things are changing at Amazon. Looks like a lot of truck drivers are out of work now too.

I put everything on sale in hopes it will move before the low inventory fees go in on April 1. On March 25 I will begin recalling. I hate to spend the money but I'd rather have my products back and eat a shipping cost that the crazy low inventory fees. That's just too much. Why couldn't they have told us two months ago they wanted us to leave and let us all bow out gracefully. Instead they knife us in the back, knife us somewhere else, getting ready to knife us again.
